Your taking the York drag day a bit too serious Graham

No, not unless you happen to have the bellhousing from a 2.5litre consul/granada.
These are like rocking horse pooh.

The 3litre used a beefier gearbox than the 2.5litre, with a unique B/H to box hole pattern.

The 2.5 used the smaller gearbox (bullet? 2000e?), which the type 9 was based on, so the 2.5 B/H will fit the type 9 and the back of the Essex. If you are lucky enough to be the only person on the planet with a spare 2.5 B/H, then you need to use the V6 type 9, and cut the first ½" or so of the input shaft.

All the gearboxes are "type something-or-other". I can't recall which one is which, but the burtons site has all the good info.

not a type 5 by any chance?
https://www.burtonpower.com/technical/tt_type5.html

I think thats whats on my scimitar (but I could be wrong)

That's the kiddy.
I think the earlier Scimitars were fitted with the box in the photo, but later ones (like my SE6A) had external linkages, but the guts of the box are similar, and I suppose the 3litre bellhousing fits both types (i.e. both internal & external linkage types)

There is a pic of the other one too somewhere on burtons site I think ?

anyway if you can use the bits form these then there are plenty scrap scimitars and capris about still
