I have a caterham shortened sump (second hand) to put on my k series engine before I drop it in the chassis.
I notice on the caterham website there is an aluminium baffle and some sponge that goes with it. I don't have the baffle or sponge.

Do I need these bits?
(rather not keep giving caterham my cash)

I would think they are fairly important if the sump is as shallow as my 20XE Caterham sump.

do they stop oil starvation?
