Engine mounting bracket screws?
Aaron - 13/7/03 at 01:30 PM

Just a quickie guys. What size screws were used to attach the mounting bracket to the block on the standard 711M crossflows fitted to Escorts? It's just that I've got a feeling my block has been re-drilled and tapped for some reason!?!

Cheers, Aaron.

I've got a Xflow with a 771M block and even that doesn't have metric bolts.

They are UNC, and they have funny heads - the head has a 'washer' moulded in under the hex bit, and the underside of that has sawtooth serrations.

The effect is that they are easy to do up, but quite hard to undo - bit tough on the steel of the mounts though!

You are unlikely to get the real ones any more, even in a scrappy, but you should use some form of shake-proof washer under a conventional bolt.
