Have just MOTed the Tiger and all was ok. But when up on ramps I saw some drips coming from the breather pipe (not in catch tank at the moment).
It almost looked like water vapour condensing but i guess it must have been oil vapour
Is this normal? I thought you were suposed to get very little in a catch tank if you have one.
Any ideas??
Thanks
Rupert
don't worry, you'll see some vapour coming out, it is a mixture of oil and water vapours, and is pretty normal
thanks a million.
When i tipped my catch tank out last time it wasnt pleasant. There wasnt much in considering but not oil like as i was expecting. Stank too. I reckon im running a bit rich which may have been the culprit. Only way i can describe the look of the liquid was like a stale dehydrated urine!!
Its quite normal to have a little water vapour to boil off when up to normal working temperature - thats partly why most engines should operate at around the 100 degree mark.
Oil temp in most engines is about 120deg when the water temp is ~90deg. So the water will boil off easily at normal operating temps.

I often record 105 degs on DD2 on normal running. As Pintos dont have temp sender fitted as std the actual temp recorded is partly dependant on where you fit the probe. I used an oil gallery plug, just drilled and tapped it to accept the sender.
