What does your engine weigh?
Also, does anyone know what my 2.9 aj6 jag engine weighs and what a 4.0 supercharger aj16 jag engine weighs?
Alfa 136 kgs with no Ex manifolds and alternator etc.
aj6 is a craking unit and all alloy,
someone has put it in a Viento.

Mazda 13B Rotary - 83Kg no turbo's no inlet etc.

v12 is 309kg undressed so its going to be a minimum of 200kg !
2.9 had a v12 cylinder head, not very good, the 3.6 and 4.0l DOHC's were much better, I had a 4.0l XJS a few years ago, went really well, faster
than the v12 it replaced as it was a rare factory manual. Should never of sold it
Regards Mark
The only figures I ever found for the aj16 engine were about 220Kg, and that was reputedly bare i.e. without injection, chargers, alternator etc etc
, not sure about aj6 or the 2.9 but I would imagine the 2.9 would be slightly lighter being a single cam as against a twin cam (is it still a ally
head on the 2.9?)
So a serious lump of an engine, but when you see (and lift) the crank from one you start to understand why
It was apparently designed around the possiblilty of a diesel variant being introduced, so the bottom end was over engineered just in case (which will
be why they run forever when looked after).
Cheers

1.6 CVH - between a hernia and a bad back!

Rover V8, stainless manifolds, stainless system, pair turbos, paired intercoolers, injection manifold.......
Er, quite a lot, I suspect
ATB
Simon
Not sure - somewhere around 70kg? The whole car's bang on 350kg..........
I think the rover v8 is a little less than 150 KG's
I think!

PPC did an engine swap article a couple of months ago. I'd love to quote from it now but i'm away from home. maybe someone else can help out.
My Sierra DOHC is 135kgs dry.

Mine feels like it'll compress into a black hole at the end of it's lifetime. It's certainly got it's own gravity, everything in
the garage seems to have clustered around it

Hi Mark [Mookaloid } how are you
Graham
http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/engineweights.html
http://www.team.net/sol/tech/engine.html
two websites with information on engine weights iv had them both bookmarked for a good while now, he first one is just an extended version of the
second one i think
depends which car!!
in the 7, Vaux XE, 115kg ish
in the class 7 grasser, 58kg all up with ancills, manifolds etc................................but there are two of them so 116kg, but then
that's not bad for 300hp!
so let me get this straight,
200hp for 115kg
300hp for 1kg more .........
wowsers - what a performance upgrade
(in case anyone who doesn't know the upgrade is two completely different engines running in parallel)
