Hi all, would anyone know if the turbo from the T5 is the same as the T5-R?

No the T5 has a smaller compressor housing than the T5-R

Cheers Dave, Iam currently looking at turbo-ing a blackbird engine and starting looking at possible turbo units.

Can I ask what turbo your using? and were you sourced the parts.

I used the TD04-G15 from a T5, got it of Ebay they don’t fetch much compared to the T5-R turbo.

Hi Dave, does the fact that it has a smaller compressor housing effect the potential bhp or does it mean it will spin up quicker/easier?

What kind of bhp are you expecting from the R1 engine?

most should have a 16t - if theyve been upgraded , might be a little big on the compressor size .

Not that sure on the effects the smaller housing would have i would of thought it would spin up quicker.

I’m running about 8psi to start with going up to around 12psi at a later date.

I had a problem with the wastegate not opening so I know its capable of at least 15psi which is all my gauge reads to

It starts to build boost about 3.5 to 4k and pulls strong to the limiter
I’m hoping for around 200hp at the wheels when it eventually goes on a rolling road
