pretty sure the ones for use on turbo engines have sealed throttle spindles, may be difficult to do on non turbos ones.

I think you can put the carbs in a sealed box and balance the air pressure with what the turbo is making. I could be wrong......

yep that would work,

pretty sure some jets/airways need soldering up too, and maybe some drilling out.

is there a specific reason you want to use 40's?

would be a lot simpler with a home made planum, and a single body.

i just want to use carbs ive got a mk2 escort with a 2l pinto in and i dont want to spoil the looks of its so i was thinking turbo it with twin 40s. i was just thinking that when you open the bonnet it would look right

Ditch the jets and solder the holes up, weld 4 injector bosses on the underside of the runners to the head after the throttle valves (ie out of sight). put a megasquirt on it and just use the dcoe throttle valves as ITB's

new seals in the throttle shafts should be tight enough to put some boost on <7psi otherwise take them out and put proper bearings in them.

I have seen this on a supercharged honda civic (really old one) once.

There is a discussion of this in Vizard's Mini book.

2 options

1 suck through with standard carbs with obvious effects on mixture heat etc.

2 use dellorto's from Lotus Esprit turbo that were 'specials' for blow through use, or copy the mods from those carbs on to your standard atmo ones.

A bit pointless using DCOEs this way , Not really a sensible thing to do these days, if you are going to supercharge /Turbo either use fuel injection or use suck through using a simpler single big carb.

DCOEs are worth money don't butcher them. Either buy suitable throttle bodies or adapt an standard efi intake sytem -- you can even use manifolds off other engines for example the complete Rover 2 litre M16 Turbo inlet assembly can be fitted to Ford Zetec and CVH heads and can flow enough air for well over 240 bhp power outputs.
