best engine position ??

hi all its me again anybody know what the best position (from the front of the chassis ) to fit the pinto motor
not sure how critical it is

You'll be wanting it as far into the middle of the car as you can.

As far back and down as you can. It is however a compromise between sump clearance, footwell space and engine position. Ie, the further back, the less the footwell space, the lower it is, the more likely you are to bash the sump a bit.

Bolt on the gearbox and drag the whole lot so its just missing the bulkhead, make up mountings around this location.

I have a pinto & type 9 in my car. The back of the bell housing is about 1 inch from the start of the transmission tunnel. dont forget you will need a bit of space to play with as the engine will move about during acceleration and braking etc....
