mt 75 gearbox siera/transit

i have a mt75 gearbox and ive been looking around the scrapyard and found a transit one. this box looks a lot smaller could i use this as it might be a lot lighter
but are they as strong as the sierra on thanks adam

is it from a petrol or diesel transit, like the old 2.5 D one

i think it was the diesel one iam not to sure ill have to look the gear stick was on top of the box and not remote like the one i have

I think the early diesel had a much bigger bellhousing that will not fit the petrol engines and as it is part of the casing.

The Transit MT75 has a totally different bellhousing pattern and can only be used with an adaptor plate. The integral bellhousing flange where it bolts to the engine is MASSIVE, and would not package easily in a 7. The ratios are different (lower) and not really suitable for a petrol engine.
So I'd forget it.

The gear casing is the same size as the Sierra- just looks smaller because it doesn't have the gear lever mechanism at the back.
