Got a pinto engined car so the exhaust is next to ole earhole.I have a standard Tiger can on it and want to repack in the hope I can make it quieter.Any tips on how I can do this once and achieve a quieter drive would be appreciated
If you pack it too loose or too tight the noise goes up. There's a happy medium somewhere between the two!!!!
I made some cans and stuffed them with wire wool which seems to have worked. tight enough to take up the space but only just was how i went and it seems to have worked.

Try these guys for a re-packing kit www.fuelexhausts.com/
I've used their stuff a couple of times for bike exhausts, same principle. Wire wool will work, but its a short term solution, a by product of
combustion is water not least from condensation, add to wire wool and you have a pile of brown dust, unless you can find some stainless wool.
Car Builder Solutions do a repack kit. It is wrapped round a cardboard tube so all you do is slide it over the perforated tube in the can. The layer
next to the tube is wire wool which prolongs the life of the wadding.
Takes no time at all and comes in different diameters.
