
was driving down the motorway the other day when a BMW bike came past me like i wasn't even moving and it was sounding so sweet.
So i got to thinking how usable it would be in a 7.
The 1200cc version can kick out 120bhp in pretty much standard tune and i have been told by a guy that used to work with race cars that the 1000cc one
can be tuned to over 140bhp.
I think it has a gearbox that is more like a car one than a motorbike one, uses drive shaft rather than chain.
Does anyone know about these engines, how difficult would it be to use it?

I trust that you are not referring to the air cooled boxer, which would limit your body design somewhat 
i'm converting an old k1100 bmw to a trike atm and have thought this would go in a bec quite nicely as well.
there good engine and i know a guy that converts them for microlights
forget the boxer, go for the k1200r engine 177bhp (I think) I rode the bike and it's awesome!!
The k1200 16v flat four is ideal for a car transplant. Low, not too wide, powerful, torquey and with a car-type box and shaft drive, fitment is dead
easy.
You can even get a 5speed box and electric reverse option... Now these aren't the frantic, high-revving Japanese variety of Superbike engine, but
in a lightweight road car application I personally think they make more sense. They're pretty bullet proof.
i got offerd one of these very cheap but i said no. because i thought it would be to big and low power. anyone got the specs on these engines

ive often thought the BMW engine would be good , but havent read anybody doing it .
I originally wanted one without gearbox to mate to a rear transaxle , but apparently they dont split conventionally so it would be ideal as a unit
together , esp the flat four inline .
