In my infinite wisdom I decided to install a new auxilary drive belt and tensioner pulley to my 1.6 1996 VW Polo..
Got the new idler/tensioner pulley assembly into the engine block and bolted it down...
However, there is a little steel pin that is locking the actual tensioner to its casing...
Does anyone know how on earth you get this little pin out?
I have been lying on my back in the rain for a good half hour trying to pull the bugger out and failing miserably...
Anyone?..
I have to drive to work tommorow and would quite like my PAS and alternator to be working
isnt the pin just the stop?
thought you unwound them with a splined bit and did the lock bolt up?
is it a auto tensioner if so just move tensioner a little with spanner a bit and pin will come out
It is an auto tensioner...
And yes, logic says that if I wind up the tensioner with a spanner in the usual way I should then just be able to pull said pin out....However its
being a bugger and wont come,....
I guess I just need to hit it a bit harder
Sorted....Ended up using a pop rivet gun to pull the pin out....damn it was tight...
Im so glad its sorted..that annoying whine has gone away now
Thanks guys
