hey peeps - im doing a zetec conversion from a pinto over the winter - i need to know what starter motor will fit from a type 9 5 speed.
will be using a 1.8 flywheel
also what clutch assembly will i need?

You'll need a starter from a 1.8 CVH, or 2.0 DOHC Sierra.
As for clutch, you can use the standard clutch plate and cover for the Zetec, and use a release bearing from a Ford Sierra 2.0 OHC (Quinton Hazell
part CCT132).
You'll need a spigot bearing too, from a Ford dealer, FINIS code 1554973.

No idea what you need but thought id say hello - previously we talked on ne7ers.
I might need to quiz you about what you are doing with old engine sometime.
Why are you switching to Zetec? From what i remember your Pinto is a good basis for some upgrades. Theres life in the 'ole anchor yet!!
The CVH starter i have used is a lucas, the stock number is LRS707.
Be carefull with the clutch kits some have different size plates, my engine is early zetec 1800 series 1 and i fitted the early mondeo clutch kit with
220mm friction plate.
As stated earlier the early 70's 1300 capri thrust bearing quinten hazel number cct 133, i know that cct 132 (early sierra) has ben quoted and
used but i went for the 133 and it seems just fine.

Coozer near durham has been collecting Zetec bits for a while so may be able to offer some advice. He seems to be talented at keeping costs down as
well.
KrisMC is also installing a Zetec i believe.
Tangoman has a very nice install. He was parked near us at the Teesside trackday. Steve is a great guy to talk to.
