Chris Mason did it, with heavy chassis mods. A couple have done it in Westfields too.

Massive bellhousing, relatively tall motor, No. 4 spins sometimes if not drysumped.

Cracking motor though.

Chris fitted his in an MK Indy though which has a higher chassis / scuttle / bonnet line than book. Seeing as in a Westie with a V8 bonnet its almost scraping the floor I doubt you'd get one in a book chassis without a significant bonnet bulge.

Confucing bit in this thread is that an S2000 engine ias not the same as the Type R 2 liter engine.

The s2000 is an Fseries engine
Type R is an K series engine

the K20 is the one you're after, and they'll fit a westfield that's for sure.

The CTR engine is 40bhp down on the S2000 lump though, and Im not sure what gearbox would be used?

I always though there were problems with the direction Honda engine's turn in?

AlphaX - 12/6/07 at 05:25 PM

The K20A is of the Civic type R. The F20C is from the S2000.
The F20C will fit most sevens but it's talll, think it's 65cm. U'd be best off getting it complete with ECU, gearbox etc. Gearbox will fit a MT75 tunnel.
The K20A didnt come with a rear-wheel drive gearbox setup. Not sure if it will bolt on a gearbox of a S2000. The F20C will give you 240bhp (!) and the K20A "only" 220 bhp. Many say that the F20C doesn't break down and is properly tough. But I've seen quite a few explode (tho none in a seven). both these engines spin the "right" way.

The older 'D' and 'B' series engines turned "backwards", the newer K/F series does not.

It's doable, but quite expensive. IIRC chris put about £7K!!!!! into his engine. Yes it will be ba$&ard fast, but relatively relaxed too. The engine is really tall though, and a dry sump is suggested. Megasquirt could be used, as Chris spent a fortune getting his done (can't remember who he used though). A stonger chassis would also be a good idea, if not because of the power, then because you'd be capable of 140 mph or so. A full cage would be good for the same reason.

That is not completly true!

The only F series engine that spin the right direction is the F20c from the S2000 all other F series engines rotate the WRONG direction, just looked to the pully on my accord to confrim that.

the K20a type R engine is build stronger than the older F20 from the s2000, at least thats what honda says.

I've never seen a properly oiled and mapped K20 blow up,
but have seen a couple of blown-up f20's

I would go with the K20, there's bellhousings availeble,
but hey if an s2000 driveline come around for decent money..... you've got game!
