
hay all, im having problems with some bike carbs i fitted yesterday, after fitting them etc got them running but with out a throttle cable, so tonitie
i fitted a throttle cable to do this i had to modify the standard capri one (hehe bike carbs are fitted to a pinto in my capri), any way with this
done the throttle opens to soon, pretty much the moment i touch the throttle its fully open what options do i have? also im in telford, is there any
one that can make cutsom throttle cables, as i have pretty much bodged this one, thanks for any help you can offer

Sounds like the pedal ratio on the throttle is too high, re-drill the cable attachment point to give you longer pedal travel. I.e. move the attachment
point closer to the pivot point.

same sort of problem on my set up but not as severe, you will need some bits from the likes of demon tweeks, a bolt on collett and some fiddling with
a good solid cable atachment. You can bodge it first to get the right feel then make it permenant.
You could have a few places drilled in the pedal and change the positions to suit.

I used the cable i had with mine (was dgas carb) removed end and fitted a new nipple on (bought from Mac 1 at newark should be able to get them from
local bike shop though.
if your using the pinto fuel pump you will need to regulater the pressure down to around 2psi.

i havnt been out and looked at car yet, so no news, however the manifold and carb set up was done by http://www.knnmanifolds.co.uk/
and i cant praise them enougth, the carbs and manifold are real good quality, i had a few problems, like the above throttle, i had to modify the dip
stick, and im going to need a side exit dissy cap (beofre i go edis), but these problems that can only be found and solved when working on the car!
took me a couple of hours to fit (took my time as well) once on, and i decided to see what happend when trying to start, to my amazement car started
first time, its not perfet but its getting the, i will be setting them up on the rollers at some point!

ok think i have sorted this one, however im on my next issue, how do i go about putting a return spring on the carbs, so it will return both the carbs and throttle pedal? cheers the snake
Do you have a return spring on the pedal? The one of the carbs isn't all that strong, so may not be enough. You need to drill a hole on the other
side of the pivot from the foot pad, and find somewhere to attach it. Don't go too strong or the pedal will be overly heavy, but there's a
fair bit of personal preference involved in the weighting.
Oh, also make sure you oil the cable, as it can make a huge difference if it's sticking a bit (and you may not notice if it's only a little
bit).
ok cool, i have done a complete bodge job on it today heres a pic, drove it with this set up today, is ok, however lacking the advance due to vacum
not connected up, things can only get better!

have only had the car for about a month, but its getting there slowly, now were near finished but here u are
updates i dont have pictures of are, there are no side rubbing stirps, chrome front bumper to match the rear, i have a set of -1" springs to fit,
a set of 9" rear drums, and 2.8i vented front calipers with drilled and groved disks to go on, also a full peter loyd echaust system and 4
branch waiting to go on!

So much room compaired with my LSIS, and my manifold is straight which is not the best design for the filters.
I put a return spring looped over the cable attachemnt point on the pedal top and bolted to the bulkhead on my car, only a light spring just enough to
take up the slack without opening the butterflys.
The carbs already have an extra spring to keep them closed.
