VAG engines are fine.
Some use some oil, but hey who cares?

Donkervoort uses them.

There are clutch housings available

Standard I think they range from 160 up to 225 maybe more.

I work for formula palmer audi and we use these engines. We run 300 bhp with a 360bhp boost button. I beleive the 225 engine can produce over 300bhp. We only run bigger turbos to get the 360bhp reliably at a relatively low boost. We run 12psi for 300bhp. Not sure what the over boost pressure is.

Great engines, we have a rev limit of 7500 to keep them in check, they have been buzzed to 10000 without blowing up, we run them all out obviously and they seem to go on and on without rebuilds.

Well I've got one in my tintop and think it's awesome! 3.0 litre V6 diesel is a bit hefty for a 7 though.. :-)

Do you use standard valves, as I had heard of a couple of racers in a different series having issues with valve heads coming off the stem at high rpm? Doesn't seem to be an issue for road use though.

I've had my eye on the V6 - ideal for a middy project. In line engine and gearbox are less than 650mm long.
2.7 twin turbo kicks out over 250bhp as standard.

iam just looking at diffrent options as iam collecting parts for my locost build.my mates car just blow up so ive give him £50 for the alloys 17in with 2 new tyres. ive got all the frame cut waiting to be welded up. i just need shocks /engine /body panels. i was going to use my rs turbo engine but iam bored of it. so i might sell it to fund some of the build. but if i get my insurance payout any time soon i might go bike engine.the guy said i could have the engine for £100 so i might just buy it and keep it lol.

I'd rip his arm off to get the engine for £100. The lowest spec ones go for not too much less than a grand normally...

I posted a link recently for the bellhousing to mate VAG power to type 9.
