Second session on the rollers this time to improve the driveablity after the engine has been run in. We leak tested the engine to gauge the condition and so far no issues. The engine is mostly standard apart from some head flowing and an exhaust cam.

I decided to limit the RPM to 7200 as the Rotrex C30-94 is a little on the large side for a 1600cc engine!

any explination to why you've changed the exhaust cam? it's a pretty good profile as stock isn't t?

Hi all,

The engine has been well tuned and so far there hasn't been any signs of detonation or stress on the rollers where the environment is usually pretty harsh. The inlet temps have been very low which must be a major factor in this. I'm using V-Power only and I don't hold the engine under high boost for very long cus its so damn quick!

The decision on the exhaust cam was really a result of the head flow figures. As the relative flow rates between the inlet and exhaust side was very large. So thats where the mods were concentrated. I was given a set of free cams anyway so it seemed rude not to at least use one of them! Again having a very free flowing path for the gases must be helping to resist pre-ignition.

Nothing has been changed since the initial power runs but I could increase the RPM limit or swing the exhaust cam to see what effect it has on the torque curve. As my standard clutch is borderline in low gears I'd rather not for now
