Auto/bike electrician

Right, I'm now at the end of what I can do with my engine! I replaced a blown carb'd blackbird engine with an injected X11, but I just can't get the injectors to fire. I had posted this in the bec section, but am in need of wider help now. The engine sparks, but I can't see what stopping the injectors. All safety circuits cut out/earthed and the bank angle sensor and engine stop relay have been removed. I am now at a loss to what else to do, so i require the services of someone professional.
Does anyone know of a good bike/auto electrician near Northampton who is able to do house calls, as I currently have no way of moving the car? Or anyone willing to come and help for some beer tokens?

Is your pos feed to the injectors ok, most systems switch earth to squirt (sorry if i'm trying to teach you to suck eggs)

DIY Si - 18/7/07 at 07:01 PM

yup, it runs a direct feed to the coils and injectors, as per the bike. Switched earth as you guess, but the switched side of the injector plug always show 0V, but they don't do anything?! And my heads starting to hurt from thinking about it. The only other thing I can measure is the resistance along the switch and it's 2.5 ohm between the batt negative and the plug. I'll go and try a new feed and see what happens, but I can't see how it'll change, but you never know!

Have you tried earthing injectors manually, just to make sure they do work and also reduce the "why dont the bloody thing work " list

First thing I tried today, as I reailsed I hadn't actually done it yet. Oh, and scratch the ohm reading, my meters packed up. It thinks a straight short is still 150 ohm!
Aaarrrrrggggghhhhhhhh, why won't it work!!!!?????
And breathe.

I'm not a bike expert but I have a good knolage of auto electrics, depending on your location I could have a look for a cup of tea.

I think I may live a bit too far away from you though! I live near Northampton.

All safety circuits cut out/earthed and the bank angle sensor and engine stop relay have been removed.

Is it possible that one of the curcuits is in safety mode?

DIY Si - 20/7/07 at 07:04 PM

What do you mean by safety mode? They are all open or shut switches, so all should be ok.

A link made that should be open or a link open that should be made. It's a simple mistake that I made when wiring up my ZZR 11.

Ah, I get what you mean now. It seems to be that the way of not starting the engine is to stop the injectors, whilst still allowing the sparks. As far as I can tell, all the correct things have been done, hence my growing confusion.

Sticking injectors?? 2 of mine were sticking until cleaned

DIY Si - 21/7/07 at 03:44 PM

Well, they all fire if flicked with with power direct from the battery, and the normal feed comes from the battery post on the starter solenoid, so that is fine.
