Misfire

Hi,

Bit of a problem that when I hit around 4 1/2 to 5k is starts to misfire, I'm pretty sure it isn't going lean, checked and rechecked the logs. I'm using the dizzy take off for the the MS tacho input. I don't have points anymore but replaced them with one of the solid state aldon point replacement modules that fits under the distributor cap.

Could it be this? can't see what else it could be, or could it be MS mis-interpreting the rpm

Cheers

The causes of misfires are numerous.....

One that really got me was a worn dizzy drive on the crank on an old Xflow..... I got the carbs adjusted, new points, condesner etc... seemed to help for a while but returned very quickly (as the dizzy slipped on the crank drive). Only worked out what the problem was when I the engine finally sucumbed to the constantly variable timing!! Nasty....

dizzy does't seem to be worn, but have not come across a worn distributor, will see if I can find another to prove a point. At some point I want to do away with the dizzy.
