I jumped in the LocoPan the other day and the choke cable has seized solid.... I suspect it was after driving home in the pi$$ing rain with the bonnet scoop acting like rain scoop, directing vast amounts of precipitation onto the carbs (+ hence choke cable)

Do choke cables usually need oiling to keep them working nicely or was the cable I found in my parts bin just a cheap+nasty rust-loving cable???? I'm going to replace it but want to know how to prevent it from happening again-

a) better cable
b) more oiling

Buy a £4 cable oiler and squirt a bit of WD40 down there. It works for me!

Here we go -

Last time I did it, I used some ptfe/white grease I think. Seemed to work a treat and never appeared to go off/get stiff either.

Undo the carb end, make a small plasticine funnel over the end of the sleeve to direct oil into the middle, hang up then fill with oil and leave overnight.
