Hello girls,
I've just picked up my 2.0L Pinto and with it was a DGAV carb. Is this worth reconditioning? (there's a good place in Bristol that can do it) or is
this carb a load of cods bollocks?
Paul,
If it's a 32/36 DGAV then it will probably serve you well enough until you get your twin horizontals!
If you don't fancy using it, pass it on to a X-flow user as it's ideal for those who don't mind a hole in the bonnet (it's what I'm using).
If you're reasonably good with your hands and careful, you can overhaul the carb yourself - Weber sell an overhaul kit of rubber bits and gaskets.
That, plus a can of carb cleaner, and you can bring it back to life. The only things that can't be fixed easily are the bearings for the venturi
butterflies - if they rattle when you waggle them, get another carb (air gets in and it screws up your settings). Everything else is fixable.
Paul, did you ever make use of it?
John,
I've only just got hold of it, so I haven't decided what route to take yet.
