Just been watching mark evans and wondered whether i have plumbed my polo rad right as he put the flow to bottom and return out the top.My pinto flow from the stat housing goes to the top of the rad and returns from the bottom to the pump.So is he right or me or does it matter

I would have thought. water into the radiator at the top and out at the bottom.
Old engines had no pumps and relied on thermosyphon cooling. where hot water would rise to the top of the radiator and as it cooled it became denser and fell to the bottom of the radiator and returned to the engine. The addition of pump would increase this efficiency. So I can't see why you want to pump against the natural principle.

Someone will come along with the right answer later I'm sure.

i don't have a polo rad. but the rad connected to my pinto flows the same way as yours. i think your fine

As previously said, Gravity effect, its easier to suck water out of the bottom than to push enough water up and suck it off the top. So out of the bottom of the Rad to the pump, through the engine, out through the thermostat to the top of the rad. QED.

Cant believe it i was gonna put up a post about this combo. Using the polo rad with the thermo switch on the side how do you wire this up to come on when it reaches temperature?

The switch simply 'makes' when a temp is reached (not sure what temp though) You just put the switch in series with the fan.

Sorry to hijack this but is a polo rad enough to cool a 2ltr pinto ?
reason I'm asking is that I've been using a dolomite 1850 rad but due to an expensive rebuild, I'm wondering whether this will be enough to keep it cool while the engine runs in.

It cools my v6 with no problems at all
