I've been looking round for a modded pinto sump. best I can find so far is MK's @ £65 - anyone know of a better deal?
Chop your own down. It's dead easy and you'll save £65.00.

remember you need your oil pickup modding as well....
problem is i can't weld.... that's why i wanted one pre-done
Spend the £65 on a second hand welder, sorry £63 on a second hand welder, £2 on a load of scrap steel and give it a try. There is lots of help here on
how to do it, I get about 3 or 4 emails a week about welding problems - I am sure Viper gets the same. It would be the best automotive investment you
will ever make, and would pay for itself on the first job.
Spend £200 on a good new welder or £200 on a full pro second hand welder and there will be no stopping you. Remeber, MIG was invented to remove the
necessity for advanced skills needed to weld during the war.
You will not regret it
Or get yourself an RS2000 sump, already as shallow as you need to go and alloy too.
Cheers everyone... some things to consider..
saving my pennies for saturday at Donnigton at the mo.....

sorry couldn't resist the previous post.
have a word with a couble of local enginerring companies, if you do the cutting and cleaning up of the sump then you might be pleasantly suprised at
the prices quoted.

Can you recomend any companies in/around Ipswich ?
The Tiger kit is a 'done' decision - although i am beginning to worry a little
However I have someone on standby who will be able to deal with my welding issues then (just not for a few months)
At least it'll be a bit of a challenge
- although i am beginning to worry a little
Worry a little, I would be having palpatations and cold sweats!!
Viper wants someone to take him out the back and shoot him! If you dont want to make your own chassis see MK or Luego
MK version worth the money if your not confident with the welder.

I actually did the article for the RHOCAR site, which is here.

PS. Bob's version will get in the way of the clutch cable, sorry.

I read your version before I did my own, I thought yours may inpede the clutch cable so I extended the sump forward instead. I will probable have an eleven pint capacity now though!

No it just goes alongside it, I wanted a short sump, and Vulture engineering wanted to relieve me of £140 (they want £160 now) for a modified 2nd hand
one. I gave it a good looking at, said no thanks! then did my own. I then got pushed to do the article for the web site, and since then, I think most
hoodies have either done their own or done it up to the welding stage then got someone who can weld to do it. They've been tig'd,
mig'd, brazed, gas welded, just about every way possible!
Expect to pay around £20 for the local welding specialist to do it.
Fair enough Bob, if it works, that's all you want. I think that either are better than the RS sump, that's still slightly deeper, and if
you give it a smack, it will crack, ours will probably just deform a bit.
I've jacked the engine up under it.

Yep ive seen a couple of yours on hoods at shows, they are nice and i was going to send a sump up to get altered.
but i managed to get a deal on more bits from MK so i had all eggs in one basket as they say.
And yes rs2000 sumps arnt that clever,i was given one a couple of years back with a crack in it as it had grounded so not failsafe.
try h.f. bond at betts ave martlesham heath
ask to speak to darren or will
tell them tim fiddy sent you.
if you need some dimensions i've got an rs2000 sump i can take some measurements from that war you want.
