I'm in the process of doing the engine and gearboxes first fit in the chassis, the problem is when I hoist the engine and gearbox (type 9) in the
air, a load of oil pees out of the splined end that joins the propshaft. Is this normal???
Any suggestions of what I should do?
cheers.
Steve.
Normal fit a rubber glove over the end as th oils stinks and is messy
quite normal drain the oil before you fit and then remember to fill before useing
mmm @ the smell of gearbox oil
yeah, it happened to me too. plastic bag over the end, or as said before rubber glove
Plug the hole
. It does happen when the propshaft is removed, wad some rag in it or a dummy shaft.
Happened to me too, quite normal.
bl00dy hell that was quick!
Thanks guys. My tin top stinks of gearbox oil because when I collected the gearbox from the guy who sold it to me, it leaked everywhere!!
great............might have to trade it in!
Thanks again.
i use the old balancer and output shaft with as much of the balancer cut off then slid it of and slide in the prop quickly, very liitle oil lost.
