Xflow Screaming sound from clutch!
The Doc - 7/9/07 at 09:39 AM

Took the motor for a short test drive. All seemed fine except for an intermittent and horrendous screaming sound when depressing the clutch and in gear.

Only sometimes.

New clurch kit fitted and fine when it's fine if you know what I mean! When it does this, if I move out of gear and work the clutch a couple of times it's OK.

I did wonder if this might have something to do with the very tight curve in the clutch cable? Is there a longer one available?

Any ideas? I guess this wouldn't be an SVA issue anyway.

Thrust bearing sticking from the sound of it.

All new clutch bits.

Think it might free up after a bit?

Fisrt time the car's been driven. I guess I must have put the engine back together about 2 yrs ago.

Spigot bearing
Release bearing --- either failed or not clipped in
Contaminated clutch driven plate

Here's a thought - I have no stop under my clutch pedal and the bulkhead is too far away to contact.

I wonder if the travel on the pedal is more than is good for the clutch when sometimes depressed too far?

In the original post the noise was "in gear" -- if you only get it in a gear and not in neutral this would be less likely
