Hi just wondering if theres any cheaper product out there to get and set up carbs for a 2.0L zetec, if any one could give me some prices, and suppliers and possible power outputs that would really help

Well there's bike carbs / megajolt for starters. You could buy it ready made or save money and do it yourself.

A friend of mine has a Megajolt on a 1.8 Zetec with twin 40's in a Westfield and he's very pleased with it.

He built it all himself and programmed it using a map off of someone else running a similar set-up. It goes very well and runs really smoothly.

He had a Weber Alpha system before this and when it packed up the guys at Weber Alpha wouldn't help him or repair it because it was no longer in production. They offered him 10% discount on another system for over £300

Is the carb and megajolt kit pretty straight forward and where can we source these parts?

Also with fitting a zetec would we need anything else and where can we get a shortened or baffled sump? and is the lightened flywheel necessary or recommended?

for the manifold there are a couple of companies - Bogg Brothers i believe are the major supplier http://www.boggbros.co.uk/index.html

Carbs can be bought off ebay - or you could consider going to throttle bodies and have a fuel injection set up. This might not be easy / cheap though depending on your current fueling system though if you are set up for carbs but can be done with a fuel swirl pot / inj pump.

There are loads of threads on this subject so try a search and you will learn plenty to be getting on with.

Which Mondeo engine are you fitting?? The sumps are totally different between the silver top and black top versions. You could start off having a look here anyway http://www.zetec-cat.co.uk/

I'm building my pinto at the moment with bike carbs and megajolt

but the megajolt is easier to fit to a zetec than my pinto



I got built up megajolt from paulf on this forum for £87.50 delivered (I think he might have a couple left for sale at the moment)

I got the ford ignition bits (inc. loom) from a local(ish) scrapyard for £30 (£40-50 max on ebay)

a set of plug leads - just the std. zetec ones to suit the coil pack that you get

My carbs are late model ZX9R ones - they came from bogg bros. on and alloy mainfold for £350 all up (inc. first guess jetting)
ask bogg's for a price for the whole lot and a price if you supply the carbs (you might get them cheaper if your lucky)

then a session on the rollers at to jet the carbs properly (~£70 at bogg's) but you'd do this with webbers anyway
only issue is not all rolling roads will tune bike carbs

also you'll need a foam filter or airbox - more or less same as you'd need for twin webbers

so total cost should be less than £550 assuming you have to buy everything

but if you make your own manifold, jet your own carbs and build your own megajolt you could save lots of £££
