Clutch cable for xflow/type9
donut - 9/10/07 at 07:31 AM

I have done a search and found peole are using different clutch cables. Which is the correct or best one to use for xflow 1600 to type 9? Why don't people use the sierra cable? A couple have used cortina or capri cables, if i go for this then which year is best?

Need the cable so i can sort the hole in the bulkhead.

Thanks

i just use a mk2 1300 escort cable the only difference between this and the cortina is the cortina one is longer.

It has been suggested i get a longer one so the cortina cable seems to fit the bill.

Which Mk Cortina one do i need?

It depends how you want to attach at the pedal end Andy, they have different methods. Capri, Cortina have loop and Sierra has nipple.

oooh, erm loop would probably be better.

Will any capri / cortina do?

Depends on your pedal arrangement; note Peteff's comment re the different cable ends.

Am using top-hung (or "pendant" ) pedals ex Westfield, so have used one of their cables, which has loop end, retained by clevis pin.

BTW - try asking Halford's for a "clevis-pin", and see what response you get! Still searching for correct 6mm dia clevis-pins for rear drum brake, h/brake lever. None found in Birmingham!! Couldn't believe it.

I went to my local motorfactors today for brake bits and came out with a clutch cable which looks perfik. Loop at one end and adjustable so i'll give that a go, should be fine....fingers crossed.
