I looking to get a set of piston rings and oil spray jets for a Blacktop Zetec 2.0l Engine.

It has an NGB engine number and is from a Mondeo.

Can anyone recomend a supplied, ideally online, how much should I expect to pay.

But If I can offer some advice...

Dont do it. Ive been there done it and have the T-shirt ect.

You can pic up a low milage 2L black top for the price of the new gaskets

Buy an engine service it inclueding cam belt ect, Thrash it and replace. The joy of this engine is it is the cheap bit. Its the bolt on parts which cost lots.

You are possibly right but I have already bought all the gaskets, big ends, main bearings, valve seals etc.
I only need the piston rings and oil jets to finish the job.

Be aware there are differant sizes (thicknes ) of the sedcond ring.

Piston rings for my 1.8 silver top when I replaced them were £75 +vat from Scholar engines in Suffolk.

You do not need a special tool for removing the valve stem seals. Go and buy a 22mm pipe bending spring from a plumbers merchant for a couple of quid, then flare the end so it is just smaller than the seal, you then turn the spring in the direction to open the coils and slide onto the seal, turn in opposite direction to tighten coils while pulling and twisting the seal off, job done.

Fare play but I couldnt get a spring to bite. Scholar engines took mine out for me.

I still can't seem to locate any Zetec (Blacktop - engine number NGB) piston rings to fit my engine.
Burton P can find the part number but do not have any suppliers that can supply these size rings.
The sizes I am after are:-
Top 1.2mm
Middle 1.5mm
Bottom 2.5mm
Standard bore size with 84.75 pistons.
Can any one suggest an alternative supplier I could try.
To be honest there is probably nothing wrong with the old rings, I just thought I'd replace them while it's all in bits and I'm replacing nearly everything else.
I'm not sure what to look for in order to check the old ones are OK to use.
Any help gratefully received.

Obvious thing to check first is that none are broken. Next remove them and clean out the piston grooves and make sure none stick. I would suggest re using if the engine has less that 100K miles as they last for 150K in normal use no probs if looked after. I've just taken apart a 125K engine and still had honing marks on the bore. If you really want to check you can slide them down the bore and check the gap in the ends, not sure what it should be but should be listed in a Haynes manual.
