Hi all,
I've got a pair of second hand twin 45's. Just stuck them on the engine and tried to start it (well it was worth a try right?).
Well I've found a few problems. They're all gummed up and need a good clean, what do people recommend? Anything I shouldn't do?
I've got a couple of service kits, just thought I'd try them before taking them to bits.
One of the float needle valves is buggered. There was no fuel in one carb. Where can I get bits like this from?
Cheers
Try a stiff brush with some cellulose thinners for a start. It cleans most stuff I've found and it shouldn't damage the metal. There are
also aerosol products for the specific purpose of cleaning carbs.
yours, Pete.
Brake cleaner in an airiarsole works well
Find yourself some ACETONE (a solvent) try shopping around, pvc double glazing (FOAM CLEANER) as well as auto and paint shops it works a treat .
BUT Be Very CAREFUL .... it's STRONG stuff.
