Trying to start my 2.0 Zetec (series 1) - Weber 45 - Webcon ECU. It produces a spark, but not a hint of ignition.
Is there a way of checking it's not been put together 180 deg out without taking the timing cover off?
Or any other bright ideas?
Had the engine rebuilt, but since he put the wrong crank pos sensor in I have my doubts!
Thanks
take number 1 plug out,
also there are some marks on the crankshaft pulley.
Swap the plug leads, they fire at 180 degree intervals, 1 & 4 together and 2 & 3 (if I remember correctly, someone may well correct me) so if
you swap the leads 1 with 2 and 3 with 4 it should fire if your suspicion is correct.
Rgds.
Pete.
To check cam timing the cover has to come off, the slots in the cams should be uppermost and horizontal at tdc. No other way to check the pulleys aren't keyed or marked.
Have you got hydraulic tappeds and are they full? Had trouble getting my engine to start after a strip due to this. Used some quick start which
caught and the tappets filled.
