Fuel systems - pipe diameter..
Jenko - 1/11/07 at 12:21 PM

Just about to embark on a Megasquirt / Bike TB conversion on my Westfield (2ltr CVH).

There seems to be some confusion about diameters for the fuel pipesfor the high pressure side......

WHat is the general consensus on tis...SBD have a nice diagram that says 12mm, but why so large?.....what is the standard fuel rail?......any other info on this would be useful....

Ta......Paul.

Ø8mm should be ample - production car FI fuel lines are no bigger than that.

What's the size of the fuel rail onthe TB's - that's your determining factor I'd guess.

Am yet to receive the TB's, but that's a good point...I will check..

Agree that 8mm should be fine - I'm thinking the SBD set up is used to dealing with 250bhp plus vx engines, and would be over kill on my engine....Can't believe the GSXR600 fuel rail would be that wide.

8-10mm ID will be more than enough.

i'm building two MK's one 2 ltr zetec on throttle bodies and one using Honda ST1100 V4 pan euro.
Is it necesarry to use 8mm feed and 8mm return fuel pipe? or will 6mm return be ok?

Most people (me included) use 8mm OD pipe. You'll find the same on most OEM's as well. The outlets from most fuel pumps (and the tails on fuel filters) are generally 8mm.
