Anyone know anything about Tranny's of the Ford kind?
they are like drowning in monkey sick to drive

Agreed! However I have a problem with mine and need to get some advise asap! I lose money without me van...
lets hear the problem, done a bit with transits
The tensioner pulley lost its bearing the other day in my MK5 W reg and after a bit if a battle with Hendy i got the part, (96WF-6A228AA). However I
have a problem, I cannot move the damn thing, its like its welded together or something. The old one moves if I pull it hard enough but this one is
immovable.
Any ideas? Am I being a numpty? Help!!!
are you just trying to fit the roller to the old tensioner body or a full tensioner
Full tensioner. The old one threw the bearing and chewed the mounting spigot so Ive sourced a new one. However there dosent appear to be any movement in it so I cant get the belt back on. Even if I mount it in a vice and pull really hard on it there is not even the slightest movement, it appears to be locked solid! And its the second one Ive had thats like this, (took the other back yesterday), so Im thinking that its me being a thicky!
never had one that won't move. are you sure its not go a pin locking it in place.
did you align the pin on the rear to align it into the rear housing.
when we fit belts to these we dont even move the tensioner manually just install the belt on all pulleys apart from the upper central one then just
push the belt down under hand pressure and put under the pulley
The springs in them are very strong so in a vice you may not move it by hand
The old one i could move, just. When fitting the belt last time I located the rear pin and wound up the bolt, threaded the belt and got under the
front of the van and pulled down on the belt, (lot of force required!), got the edge of the belt over the PS pulley and then pulled the belt around
and over the pulley.
Ive looked and looked for a pin of some discription but cant see one and its not as though its a complicated bit of kit. Pretty much an arm with a
spring built into it and an idler pulley on one end.
is this any help, sorry if its stating the obvious
