Hayabusa TB's... DIY Kits?
scootz - 9/11/07 at 12:39 PM

Does anyone offer an 'off-the-shelf' Busa TB spacing kit (XE engine)?

Aren't they overkill for an XE? I am aure I read somewhere, that they are too big for most 'normal' applications. Could be wrong tho. I would speak to SBD. Tehy do a lot of parts ofr Hayabusa and XE's. They would surely have something suitable.

I did my own quite easily. use M5 allthread to replace the long bolts, make some aluminium spacers to adjust the spacing, and weld some tags on the throttle likeage tabs as required. HTH

Busa TBs are 46mm I think), so unless you are running big power XE engines then they are a little large.....Will still work ok, but with TB's and carbs, it's always better to use as small as possible........top end should be changed too much though.....

Most TB'd XE's that I know of run 45's, so I guess the Busa isn't too OTT.

Cheers Matt.

Order placed - will report on the pro's and (hopefully none!) cons.

stevebubs - 9/11/07 at 08:13 PM

think the busa ones are 46mm tapering to 42 - i.e. same as 750s....

Jenko - 9/11/07 at 09:24 PM

If they taper down to 42mm then that should be perfect......I realise many people go with the 45mm TB's....However, all the theories about TB diameter would indicate it is not optimun....

I think many people go for this size in the hope of future upgrades to justify the size (which is fair enough)....But 200bhp would rarley need bigger than 40mm / cylinder....

You can't compare TB size with Webers as the carbs have venturis inside that reduce their bore to considerably less than the quoted size of the carb.

I'm running GSXR1000 ITBs on an XE and it makes 200bhp. Can't remember the diameters offhand, but 42mm rings a bell for exit size.
