Does anyone know the optimum distance between the trigger wheel and the VR sensor.
I currently have it set to 0.8mm and is runs but every now and again I get no spark for a fraction of a second.
The bracket is fairly sturdy but could it be vibrating and closing the gap.


Also I am still looking for a V8 Rover map.

As close as possible without it rubbing, but in practice 1 to 1.5mm is fine..The bracket does need to be as sturdy as possible though. It is also important to use resistor plugs and decent leads as well as sheilded canle for cranksensor, pip, saw and tps leads to prevent any interference being picked up .

Mines set at 1mm runs fine.

Somewhere around 1mm is fine - close enough to get a good signal, but far enough away to avoid any collisions.

The mount needs to be really rigid - it's not uncommon to get it vibrating at certain engine revs, which upsets the signals and the ignition timing. Massive is good!

Have you tried putting a post on Autosportlabs for the map? Theres bound to be someone on there with one to get you started.

Ref sensor - agree with above ref bracket. My MJLJ kit came with wiring loom and ive had no isses with that so assume it must be well shielded. id guess you would have got yours right.

Sounds like you have something else wrong....

Check the Cable to the VR sensor is screened, and the screen is grounded (very important)....If this still does not work, then it's time to question the sensor....Also as mentioned, make sur the bracket is not vibrating, and touchin the toothed wheel.

Yes - the screen should be grounded, but only at one end. If you ground both ends you will be prone to 'hum loops' - the loop acts like an aerial (this is in the MJ installation instructions).

In my car, the only earthing happens at the EDIS connector - all earths are commoned, with one wire going to chassis. The MJ and coil earths go to the same point.
