i have a robin hood with a 2litre standard pinto with weber 45s. unfortunately i cant get the engine to idle using the idle screws- i have to partially open the butterflies. i have contacted eurocarb but they say that the idle jets fitted, 55f8 (or something like that- cant remember though i checked 10 mins ago!). any suggestions gratefully received....... o chokes are 35mm btw
and should have also said above that eurocarb say the jets are the correct size.
Doesn't the tickover screw open the butterfly by adjusting the stop position on the linkage?. That's what they normally do. I thought the
idle adjust screws on the carbs were to alter the idle mixture.

so its ok to use that screw for idle speed? was given info that you should be able to get the idle mixture correct using the that it should allow the engine to tickover with the butterflies fully shut. o well shall just leave it how it is! thanks for the reply
Peteff is spot on. There should be an idle screw fitted to the body of one carb and acting on the complete linkage, and another adjustable screw that
"balances" the carbs, so they open and close together exactly.
What you have to try and avoid is having the throttle screw set to far in (butterflys too far open) as then the carbs will be idling via the
progression jets, equally to far closed and there will be a 'flat spot' on light throttle operation.

Excellent! thanks for clearing that up guys.
