hiya i have just stuick my 1600 xflow in place of my 1300 xflow engine at the moment im using the 1300 4 speed gear box do you thinkits worth the trouble of engine back out for type 9 box thanks terry
The type 9 5 speed is longer and much heavier so you will ned to shorten your prop shaft and have a different end fitted so it will go in the
gearbox.
Worth it if you like to cruise!
I fitted a 5 speed in mine and it has made it a much better car on long runs, but if you are only going to be doing local country roads then it's
not worth the bother.
So, depends what you are going to use it for.
Didn't that used to be Davrus' car?
I see you are in Bedfordshire. Why not come along to a Northants group meeting, you'd be very welcome.
David
Beware the low first gear of the 5 speed boxes, the 4 speed box is better through the gears.
thanks for that prob say with 4 speed till have next prob lol wont be long prob
I vote for 4 speed.
A cheaper option could be to change the diff.
What ratio do you run?
soz dont know bout that on diff all i know is its was a 1300 xflow setup
Bloody football!
If the car was set up for a 1300, perhaps a 4.4 or 4.1 maybe fitted.
To give the car longer legs, then a 3.9 would help.
Assuming it's a road car then it depends how much motorway / high speed work you do.
If not a lot, then I would say "no". 4 Speed box suited my car fine everywhere except the motorway.
If it's a track car, then really depends on the tracks you're using. Suck it for a while and see.
