I have two identical exhaust cotton reel bobin type mounts...They have 8mm studs comming out of each side, but they dont seem to be the standard 8mm thread pitch..

Anyone have any idea what nut I need for them?

They will be 5/16UNF i should think. May be UNC.

There most likely 5/16 unf most of the mini type ones ive seen are that thread.

If using halfords ones which are very strong, you re-thread them using 8mm nut

halfords ones are 5/16ths UNF too
