She's alive

Went for the startup of our 4age on sat. Nothing though- turned over but not a fluffle. Got an ECU code relating to the TPS, so unplugged, checked resistances- all OK. Plugged back in, code gone! About to try again, and the fuel pump gave up!

Trip to the scrappy for a new one Sunday morning, reconnect and try again. This time we end up with a load of fuel coming out of the inlet manifold and it just tries to run with full throttle... odd. Check valve timing from when we rebuilt it, all OK. Check ignition timing, looks ok, but pull dizzy out and re-set the toothed wheel and re-insert. Lo and behold it springs into life! Runs nice and smoothly, fan cuts in and out happily, and no leaks

That's what we like to hear!

Sounds like a good job well done!

Cheers

yup, very pleased... Now we just need to re-do the pedal box cover and tidy up a bit of wiring here and there, rebuild the centre console trim (old 'box was 4 speed) and then make a new alu' side panel.
Raw's exhaust manifold comes out as 4 big pipes unlike the old one from our xflow which was one pipe, so we had no choice but to chop the side of the car off!

It might pay to check the function of the fuel pressure regulator valve on the fuel rail. If the diaphragm in this splits then you end up with copious amounts of fuel in the inlet manifold. (fuel under pressure travels past the diaphragm and into the vaccuum pipe to the inlet manifold).

Enjoy.
