Right who has fitted a black top zetec and had issues witht he water pump spinning the wrong way (anti clockwise) what soultion did you use to sole the problem and would you prefer to of had a pump that span clockwise?
clockwise pumps don't exist for the blacktop.
Only solution is to add a idler pulley
Not exactally true an aftermarket one is available. Will try and find a link.
Electric pump, release a few extra horses and bypass it.
To whoever owns this pic sorry for nicking it but its exactly what im looking for.
You can see they do exist thats the first pic i have managed to find and have just emailed a company in the usa about the pump

Yes they exist but I ran my water pump the "wrong" way for a few months in Jun 2005 with no adverse effects.
Quicksilver in the US are the people who make the cast impellor. details are in my photo gallery (as is the above pic).
Best calling them rather than relying on email. In my experience, most engine builders concentrate on building engines and stop to answer the phone
but don't really bother with email.
Just don't forget the time difference - call them late afternoon our time (think I rang about 3pm and they picked straight up)
yup in the states there was a ford model that had the other one. But getting a pump from the states ok, but what if it breaks down? No quick replacement available. I think idler is a much safer bet.

PS I do agree, though - if I were doing it again, I would fit an idler pulley.
Westfield were developing a kit so may be worth ringing their technical department.
ah ok, remembered a post of some us bloke telling a other way pump was in some car not available in europe.
Might be wrong there.
Just got an email back from the usa on a sunday lol pump is easy to get and avaliable for quick delivery can be as quick as 36 hour delivery just thinking about getting 2 so i have a spare but really how often has any one had to change a water pump i have a zetec thats done 140,000 miles and no water pump has been needed for that (have a full service history with the car) so cant see the need to replace it but having said that you never know lol
Who have you spoken with in the states, Quicksilver? and are you getting a complete pump or just an impeller? I have the same problem, but put it to
one side for a while....
Cheers.
Pete.
It wasn't quicksilver it was an engine supplier for the focus midget, he confirmed that there clock wise rotation and direct fit.
Getting the whole pump not just the impeller.
So should now mean i can mount the alternator on the exhaust side like i need it
