Just removed a 2.0l zetec from a mondeo and am tidying it up before putting it in my Tiger. One of the jobs is swapping the sump over for a shortened
one.
Is there anything I should be doing to the bottom end while the engine is out and on a stand?
Thanks
You might want to think about a set of ARP bolts. Other than that just change the cambelt (buy the full kit) unless you are suspisious that the bearing are shot (not likely)
I've just taken the big ends off a "94 2ltr Mondeo...80K miles. Wear was almost zero, the new bearings I bought are almost exactly the same thickness as the old. Replace with APR (or better Dunnel sourced ) bolts if above 7300rpm being used on a regular basis, replace with standard if not. Make sure ARP bolts are the correct size and tighten properly as plenty of instances of the bolts not sitting properly and failing very quickly. If I was you I would just fit and enjoy unless you are taking the head off.
