Cool pinto spraying oil
Shamrock GS - 19/1/08 at 09:59 PM

After 2 months of tearing my hair out the beast finally sits at the right temperature. It took a new water pump, thermostat, replacement hoses and temperature sender but finally I can go more than 10 miles without a stop to cool down.

Only issue now is oil spraying out of the rocker cover (a new problem but since everything else seems to be working no great surprise). It seems to be coming past the bung in the hole where you pour the oil (relocated at the back of the engine) - should I be worried?

fit a baffle first then if that does not cure it completely start with the breathers and a catch tank.

I dont think a baffle will cure this, if you have oil coming out from the oil filler cap (Im guessing its one of the plastic affairs with wire wool or like inside?) then you have either a breather issue or very very very worn bores!! gulp! How have you got the breather system set up?

I welded a plate inside the cover across the filler hole, yes there's still a gap to pour oil in but it did stop the oil coming out the filler cap.
