Hi
can anyone advise me how to remove the universal joint on mk2 propshaft, cant seem to work it out other than smash it with a hammer. i'm trying to remove the shorter shaft so i can fit the splined joint to the one remaining shaft if that makes sense.
cheers paul

To dismantle a UJ is fine if its a circlip type, but if its peened then not so simple. If its circliped, first remove all four clips. Support the yoke in a vice, and then knock the centre section of the UJ downwards to drive out the bearing cup. Do this to all four cups and there you go, jobs a good un. Putting it back together, now thats another story, Cheers Ray

if its the heat of welding that your worried about I have managed to weld up props with the joint in a bucket of water, worked fine.

If you strip a joint watch out for all the tiny little rollers, lose just one and your in deep doo doo
