Thinking of useing a bike can , silencer ,
to a pinto stainless exhaust system .
Can you guys see that i may have any probs
dia maybe an issue but can sort it out
Its just the bike ones look just as nice but half the price .
Off the top of my head - will a bike silencer be able to cope with the gas flow from a 2L engine while doing an effective silencing job ?
From observation - the bigger the engine, the bigger the box.
But if a bike engine of say 1000cc revs twice as fast as a 2000cc pinto would gas flow be the same ?
i am using an r1 can on a zetec 2.0l have not used it on trhe road yet but seems to work ok, revs clean enough and quiete,
Hi.
Ive seen several pinto powered cars using bike cans.
They seem to work fine but they are a bit noisy.
Will you need to go to SVA? If yes I would say that the bike can will fail do to the noise.
I tried my Pinto on a cheap carbon can 5" dia. 105Db sounded and looks nice but very loud!
ok enough to mull over there got a good bike breakers near to me so may take the plunge go for the biggest can i can find ,let you know how i get on .
Deamon Tweeks do decible inserts to reduce the noise and the bhp, can fitted for SVA and removed after.
However some tracks are more stringent on noise than the SVA so no track days for you.
Whilst early on the big noise is great fun eventually hearing failier and ear'ole pain tend to make you go for something around 95db
I ran a race can from my Fazer 600 on a 2ltr Pinto for a couple of years. Never had any problems with it, nice sound, but not too noisy.
It's a common misconception that bikers hearing gets damaged by their loud exhausts, when in fact it's wind noise that is the loudest, and
most harmful. I'm sure the same rule applies to our cars.
When choosing a bike can I would always go for a stainless one. A member of our club put a carbon can on his Pinto engined car. It burned through
within a few weeks!
