Hello,
Anybody happen to have a type9 laying around?
I replaced the gearbox on my seven last weekend after an oil leak on the way to France led to a slightly catastrophic failure of the transfer gears
leaving me with only 4th.
Broken gears
Anyway after much faffing around with lhd/rhd bell housing i think I'm good to go - ie, it all bolts up ok.
As I'm now being paranoid, i want to know what the distance between the end of the input shaft and the end of the bell housing is on a standard 5
speed non-v6 box.
This one looks like it comes almost to the entire length of the bell housing, whereas I'm sure the previous one stopped about an inch before
hand, but like i said i hope I'm being paranoid.
My theory is that if it bolts up and still turns then it wasn't the wrong one.

As far as I know the end of a standard type 9 is level with the bell housing. I think the V6 extends beyond the bell housing.
*PHEW*
I can continue crossing my fingers for some dry or at least not quite so wet weather this weekend after all.
Just measured mine as the engine is out at the moment and the tip is about 2mm short of the bellhousing to block face.
