At the beginning of my build I had my gearbox rebuilt by BGH geartech with a long first fitted etc. A number if years later I have finally fitted the box and fitted the prop. The problem is that I can't spin the prop in neutral and if I manually turn the engine over the prop rotates.. Anyone had the same problem after leaving the gerabox standing for a while. I have had the cover off and no corrosion or anything. Any ideas? Last thing I want to do is have to take it apart!

happened to mine.....but then it was full of water
make sure the baulk rings are free and not stuck on the hubs,a gentle tweak with a screwdriver may un-stick them

Its not the clutch thats stuck is it???

I would contact BGH for advice first before doing anything as you may void any warranty on the box by fiddling with it.

To be honest I doubt I have any warranty left it was about 3 years ago it was done! However talking to them is probably a good idea...

Have you tried putting it in first and moving the car or turning the engine to free it up then working throught the other gears, before trying nuteral again.

or your sure its being put in nuetral by the gear linkage and not still in gear?

Pretty sure it is in neutral trouble is I can't rock the car backwards and forwards because I don't have the diff in yet but this will be the next check....

Still looking for more ideas on what this could be!

I would speak to BGH first but how about locking the propshaft somehow and then turning the engine over on a spanner

Well spoke to Brian (well Chris actually) and quite simple really.... If you sit in the car and pretend your driving it (you have to don't you) and change gear the bulk rings can all stack up one after the other. The action of the engine running drops the previous gear bulk ring during the change in normal operation. To get over it select reverse and then turn the engine manually.. Bob's your uncle I've got a neutral again.
