I have a 1.8 Zetec and i am thinking of using a rs 2000 bell housing.

The question is. Should i use a type nine from the V6 with the longer shaft?, or would the shorter shaft from the 4 cylinder engines be the one to go for?.

Which one fits the Zetec?

I thought i knew what i needed untill i rang a company to order the gearbox.

You want the type 9 gearbox from the smaller engined Sierras with the shorter first motion shaft.
This applies for using a Zetec engine with the cast iron bell housing from the Sierra type 9 gearbox or the lighter RS2000 bell housing.

if you use the long shaft V6 box you need a spacer between the bell housing and gearbox.

You can get these from Caterham

Makes no difference to the bell housing but it's the better box to go for as first gear is higher.
