As above
Cant figure out how to do it??
Anybody else done it on their own.
(Mount an engine (CEC not namby pamby BEC) to anengine stand I mean before worX makes some smutty remark)
although smutty remarks are welcome - LOL ;-)
Never tried it but guess you should be able to do it if you have a hoist and can get the engine roughly level.
take the spinning bit out of the stand (the bit that mounts to the block), mount that to your engine, then either crane it, or if it's bare
block, lift it back into the stand frame.
istr that's how i did it with my clarke one.

I guess it depends on the stand. On mine, the bit that bolts to the block and allows the engine to be turned over, actually slides out of the bracket
on the stand.
The bracket can be bolted on to the block whilst it is on the floor and then it should be relatively easy to lift the block and pop it into the
stand.
Unless it is a fully built engine in which case you will need your crane
Cheers
Mark
easy if you have a hoist
How do you do it if you dont have a crane (like me)

er, breasts
sorry, just wanted to include some kind of smutty remark since the question's pretty much answered
take the spinny bit off your stand and bolt to the engine.
If you try and pick up the lump and stick back in the hole you will struggle, so with the engine on the ground fit the stand on its side, now lift it
up, ie place the stand on its feet.
But best done with a mate!

You can do it on your own, but it's a lot more fun with someone else...
Steve
Oh - bolt the face-plate to the engine and then lay the stand on it's side bottom to the wall, insert the rotating stem bit (
), lock in place
and then pick it up!
i bolted the spiny bit to the engine and sat it on the flor i then slid the stand on its side up till thay both engaged put the pin in to stop it coming back out and then put my hands under the V off the engine and with a big deep breath picked up the engine till the stand was up right was a bit off a chow as the rover v8 is a bit bulcky a bike engine or a 4pot should be dead esay to do
Are you Billy no mates then?
LOL yeah this afternoon i was
breasts - excellent
i put the plate on the block but couldnt get the pin through the stand and into the backplate as its got a thread.
i think the burly mate (STEVE) or fix it all up on the floor and the lift is the best idea
If I'd seen the post early enough mate, I would of nipped down to you and gladly given a hand - Been doin nowt but wait to go into work
tonight!
I might be able to come down tomorrow if you still want a hand???
Steve
Thanks for the offer but i think i'll try to persuade my father in law to help me out tomorrow as theyre coming over for lunch.
He hasnt even been out in her yet so it'll be a good excuse - weather permitting
problem i see is if your going to build the engine on the stand and you got it on there - can you get it back off again?
Jos,
I have an engine hoist if ya want to borrow it?, U2U me .I have finished with it for now - the XE is fitted!!!
Greg
Theres locost and theres stupid
Dont risk hurting yourself or others or even worse damaging a perfectly good engine by not borrowing or hireing a hoist
