Engine to gearbox dust plate.

I am just fitting my crosssflow to the sierra box but have realised i should really have a plate between the two. Does this plate act as a spacer and have an effect on the clutch operation or is it just to keep dirt from entering the flywheel clutch area?.
I have temporarily fitted a cut down CVH plate, but the bottom of the bellhousing is still open .
My idea is to cut one out of 18 gauge alloy if the thickness is unimportant.

Hi Paul,

It's not called a "Shitplate" for nothing!

It keeps the crap out of the bellhousing, but I've seen many cars without it.

Better with tho, I dont think the thickness will make any difference to the operation of the clutch, it's only about 2mm.

Cheers

Chris

Good idea, after all it only has to get to SVA and back and then i can fit the blade engine.

paul....

where do you plan to get your sva?

Looks like for our area Derby is best.

Leicester used to be listed but its not any longer.

I wasthinking of using nottingham as it is where Stuart Taylor take there cars , or so i am told. Some bits of theres appear marginal for SVA to me.
