the S stands for Standard super copper core centre
They are the same AFAIK, the S means the plug has the standard NGK copper core center electrode.

The s i think means
standard super copper core center electrode.

These days when you buy plugs in packs of four they are pre gapped for specifically the listed application ---- so a different number may only mean
the gap is different.
Plug gaps tend to go with the ignition system used but other factors come into play such as if plugs with an internal booster spark gap are used.
With the Edis system the listed spark plug gap for the Mondeo Zetec is a whacking great 1.3mm.
