Todays progress!! made a header tank
locoR1 - 28/3/08 at 10:53 PM

Spent all afternoon and most of the evening making my second header tank

The first one turned into a bit of a disaster when It came to welding it, good practice for the second one though, I'm finally starting to get the hang of tig welding alloy

You can probably guess I'm well pleased with the results!

Thought I would post a picture on here seen as I'm not getting the reaction I would of liked from the wife and kids they don't seem to share my enthusiasm for a shiny peace of metal

locoR1 - 29/3/08 at 03:08 PM

Cheers for the comments guys its all fitted and plumbed in now and it doesn't leak

Next job fix the leak in my alloy fuel tank that i made a few months ago its only a small pin prick in one of the welds so should be easy enough to fix

thomas4age - 30/3/08 at 03:35 PM

what make welder did you use for doing that?

looks pretty impresive!

Grtz Thomas

Stuart_B - 30/3/08 at 05:17 PM

great bit of tig welding there. and it looks nice too.

locoR1 - 30/3/08 at 05:44 PM

It was welded with a greenbird ac/dc tig the same as the ones that CalvinX did a group buy with the other year.

Its not the best tig in the world but you get what you pay for and for the money I'm more than happy with it.

Welding aluminum isn't as hard as i initially thought but the hard bits getting it to look nice,
the more I've done the better it looks, so its a breather catch tank once the cars finished and back on the road
